Already a bride, never a bridesmaid...until now

Ok so that was totally supposed to be a take on the "always a bridesmaid, never a bride" saying but I ...well nevermind.

Let me just say that for the first time in my 37 years I have been asked to be a bridesmaid. Which strikes me as kind of odd. Because it seems that every other woman has been a bridesmaid once. If not several times. And me ? Nope. Well there was that one time. But I'm not even really sure you can count that. Because I was more like a witness and I don't think you really have bridesmaids at a spur of the moment wedding on a dock.

Anyway, who knows, I possibly made this whole everyone's-been-a-bridesmaid-but-me thing up in my mind. It doesn't matter.

What really matters is: Holy shit, I am going to be in somebody's pictures that their kids, their grandkids, and grandkids kids will look at forever (way to turn this in to all about me, right?).

As you can imagine panic has set in because ,ugh, the chubs still haunt me. And a dress...oh don't even get me started on a dress. And shoes and accessories. There are so many choices (my wonderful girlfriend has only specified that the dresses be black but we get to pick the style. LOVE HER!)

Right now at this moment I'm loving this

or this

with this jewelry

but holy pudge squishing out of the top of the dress...

Or there's this

But I've never been a fan of BABs (big ass bows). And then there is still that problem of pudge squishing out of the top. Of one side anyway. And maybe this is less wedding but more hoochie. I can't be sure.

(Yay!?Nay !? Other dress ideas?... HALP!)

Ok so maybe the wedding isn't until September and maybe just maybe I'll be all tight bodied by then and will invite all of you to come bounce quarters off my abs.

Exhale...

and if

and that's a big if

I can rock this dress in a six by then

and I'm saying this quietly

I'll post a picture.

Don't feel bad. I've never been a bridesmaid but have been a bride - hee hee :)

Good luck picking out an outfit! I"m sure you'll look beautiful in whatever you wear :)

I've been a BM (how appropriate- BM) twice now. I loved that both times the bride said, "It's TOTALLY something you can wear again!"

Liars.

The first one was a long, black A-line tank style in a crappy poly blend, and the second was a shiny red knee-length that was really fitted. The fabric was so cheap on the red one that the skirt split about 6" at the hem during the reception- I threw it away the next day. Bye, bye to about $350 total.

But yours? You may actually, really, seriously be able to wear it again.
If I see any cute dresses that might work, I'll e-mail them to you, Ms. Sexypants.

You would look smoking hot in either one of those dresses.
I've never been just a bridesmaid...I've been a maid of honor twice. That is so much pressure. And I was eight months pregnant for one of those! Now that's a new kind of hell...

I'm turning 42 and still never been a BM. I think it says something about the great taste my friends have. Go have fun. And Yeah, buy yourself something you might not wear again - its a right of passage.

I've been a bridesmaid only twice, but that's mainly because I play the piano and harp and all my friends wanted me to play for their weddings instead of standing up. So, I was saved from the horrid bridesmaid dresses from everyone except my horrid little sister.

I love the dresses you have picked out, though. Any one of those would be absolutely gorgeous.

Honey, you can rock this dress in an 8 or 10 and look just as hot... AND... you can reuse it for every other ridiculous function you're required to go to from here on out. Worth... every... penny...

You're welcome,

Ooh that dress is fabulous with a capital F! I only wish I had it like that to be able to drop $375 on a dress.

Work the third one - I love it! Have missed reading...Baby 2 inside is about as active as Baby 1 outside. Need. More. Downtime...

That first dress is killer. But seriously, any of them would be great, and you could totally wear them again. Nice bride to let you go with black in ANY style!

I've been a bridesmaid twice now, and both times I thought, "I'm spending more to be in someone else's wedding than I did in my own!" My dress was beautiful, but very inexpensive...and we got married on a beach...which didn't cost much. So there you go. But it was fun to wear black for each wedding I was in. I'd say - get the little black dress you can wear again and again.

LOVE the dresses! Who am I kidding, I love all dresses. It's a problem. I may (or may not) have a weddng dress in my closet. (Always a bridesmaid... never a bride, lol) But, in my defense, I got it for $12. I mean... how could I not?!?

I think it's awesome of your friend to let you pick your own dress. And clearly you will be the (2nd) hottest bridesmaid ever! ;)

I have been a BM 8 times and a bride twice. I had such a huge collection of tacky outfits that I told my maid of honor the second time @ she can pick out her own dress...she went with simple-black-adorable just like you. You will rock it doll!!

I really liked the dress you chose because it looks incredibly stylish and elegant without extra accessories and colors.
