Well Hello 2010, you look pretty good from afar

A few days ago I was asked about my favorite post from 2009. I realized two things in scouring through those old posts. 1)I didn't write nearly as much as I would have liked to and 2)What I did write wasn't my er, best stuff.

What do I mean by that? Well, in many cases I quickly slapped together an obligatory "I'm busy" post. Really ?? Who wants to hear that week after week. We're ALL busy.

When I started this blog back in 2007, I posted every weekday. I know -the words are even shocking to me. I then realized in 2008 that that was unmaneagable and that the world would not fall apart if I didn't post with such frequency.

Then, in 2009 I barely posted. Maybe once or twice a month. If I was lucky.

And guess what ? While I admittely fall out of love with my blog occasionally- for the most part I love it. It's like that pair of jeans that are worn and really should be thrown out but just happen to be worn in all the right places and fit like a glove.
That said it's a new year and this blog will only be as good as I make it.

So I turn to you. You that havent met me, you that I haven't already spilled all my secrets to, you that I may not have drunkenly cried to on the phone. Yeah you. What do you want to see, what do you want to know , what do you want me to do with this here comfy pair of jeans ?

I just love your observations. You are very witty, and I love your sense of humor. That's why you are in my reader. :)

I feel the same way about my blog. I used to update it constantly and now... meh. I need to update more frequently, but it's hard.

I have no suggestions on content, though. I'm in the same boat you are!

I'm the same way. I never updated daily, but I used to post at least 4 times a week. Now I'm lucky to post once a week. Why don't you write something about politics? I don't see you do that often. Or a book or movie or TV review.

Mostly I just want to see that spankin' booty in those jeans, lady.

Lord, if I had any ideas right now I'd have to keep them so I can actually post again someday. In fact, I'm thinking of going into your archives and stealing some ideas of yours. That's OK, right?

hi - i may have been here once before-- i only know that- cuz i found you while dumping bookmarks-- which, i think i will hold onto yours.
but-- just so ya know-- when i come back-- i may have a different "name".

i just couldn't resist but to pop in after reading this post though--
because-- like you-- i love (d) my blog too. i wrote it nearly daily-- sometimes twice-- for maybe 3 and a half years. i met many people that i called friends-- some-- ok , a couple-- i actually met in person.
i spilled my guts on those pages-- held nothing back.
this past week-- maybe since the new year began-- i have done some reflecting on things (the blog) - and i have realized that "obligatory" is the perfect word to describe what that had become. not only to me- but to everyone else.
if i missed even a couple days of posting-- i'd get more comments than on the days i would post something.

i don't know why i'm writing this-- i just came in to tell you-- or to respond to what you said--

this is your blog-- don't write it for what others want to see or read--- this is YOUR comfy jeans.
wear them when you want to- how you want to.
because when this becomes an obligation-- it's not fun anymore--
every favorite pair of jeans gets tossed out at some point or another-- and i already miss mine.

write for yourself-- those who really care about you and what you have to say, will be right there with you.

happy sunday!

Soul- All very good points! I agree on all counts.
This is my blog and ultimately I'm writing it for me (although I'd be lying if I said the friends/audience weren't a "perk").

I guess what I was really hoping/thinking is that this post might inspire questions about me that I hadn't yet addressed. I thought it might be fun to address those.
I think you've inspired my next post. I've been thinking I want to do a follow-up to this one.

Thanks for your thoughts and I hope you do come back.

It's just fun to stop by here and catch a bit of your moxie and perspective.

I think everyone is in a bit of a funk at this time of year. Twitter and Face Book have turned us into the "junk food junkies" of the innertubes.

I guess we just need to exercise our content muscle.
