An update on my mom & a shameless ploy to win a vacuum

Wow, ever since the stroller giveaway I've gotten all kinds of commercial chez Because I must Blog. I promise a "real" post soon but please indulge me while I get just a wee bit "commercial" yet again.

I just found this at 5 Minutes for Mom.

A Dyson Vacuum Giveaway. I mean c'mon who doesn't want a Dyson ? Ok, Ok, maybe it really is just me that secretly dreams about one of these super-powered vacs but dammit I have a very furry canine, two little ones and one not so little one that all like to leave crumb trails in their wake.

Now I'd go out and purchase one but sadly somehow I just can't find the extra $400 in the budget for this item.

But if I did have it, this vacuum would be at the top of my list. This particular Dyson is pink and $40 from each sale goes towards funding Breast Cancer research.

As many of you know, my very own mother was diagnosed in October of last year. Over the last 11 months she underwent a bilateral mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation and I'm happy to report she's doing well. We're not out of the woods yet, but each day that passes we get closer to that 5 year mark in which she can be considered officially cancer free.

My mother means the world to me and I want to support her in every way I can. As such I've become more of an advocate for Breast Cancer awareness and education and have done what I can financially to support the cause.
I urge you to do the same. Even if its the purchase of the specially marked pink tic tacs or the pink water bottle please consider purchasing pink to support the cause.
And if you're rollin in the dough go out and get yourself a Dyson at Target.

But do something! Take action so we can ultimately eradicate this horrible disease.

Now, I shall step off my soapbox and sit and wait patiently for my name to be drawn for that kick ass vacuum. *wink*

I buy "pink" when I can. My favorite coffee mug was a Pink purchase - I call it my "boobie" cup. hahaa.

Glad to hear your mom is still doing well.

Now I'm going to have to enter this because I want one SOOO bad. (I've been meaning to join Team Whymommy, maybe I'll do a double post for both!!!)

I got a purple one for Christmas two years ago. And yes, I didn't mind that a vacuum cleaner was one of my presents. I hope you win because I love mine. Well, as much as you can love a vacuum cleaner :)

My mom passed her 5-yr mark last year and it'll be 6-yrs this November. In honor of her, and all those w/in my family who not only had breast cancer but other types as well, I buy pink as often as I can and I donate to the Komen foundation just about every year. Give your mom blessings and well wishes from not only me and my family but from my mom as well (I know if I told her about your mom she'd make sure to tell me to pass that on).

Donations to research means the general public donates a drop in the bucket which ripples in a very large lake saying "The Public wants to be heard and wants this resolved."

Over the past two decades several strands of cancer have been identified and the use of medical intervention has prevailed in many cases. If you think this is a mild number of prevention and recovery, ask those who have survived and their families if it was worth it. Every ripple in a pond or lake helps bring us closer to a cure. You never know when it might hit close to home. (5 relatives in my family)

I love buying "pink" things and OH how I want a Dyson!

I will start digging through the couch cushions to see if I can round up enough change! :)

Your mom must be an awesome chick....I mean, she gave birth to Worker Mommy....and she rocks! :)

I've never heard of that type of vacuum. Perhaps that is because I don't ever vacuum? I live in filth, with large piles of cat/dog hair mounded in the corners, sunflower seeds littered about the floor, dorito crumbs on every surface, mold growing in the window sill, ferret poop in the corners, caps to all my prescription meds, empty sudafed boxes..I think you get the picture.

i'm all over that contest. and great news on your mom!

I have the animal Dyson. I loved it for the first month and then I hated it. When I finally complained to dyson about how horrible it works, they had me do a couple things and now it's my favorite again.

Who knew that you had to clean the filter every now and then.

I'm doing passionately pink for the cure...

I got talked into buying a canister vac. I despise it! I'm definitely an upright girl. I so want that vacuum!
