Is 4 too young to have the Talk ?

My daughter J brought this project home from preschool the other day. I gushed about how wonderful it was and what a great job she'd done. Then my eyes went to that thing. That "thing" next to the snowman's right arm.

"What is that?" I asked J

"It's his arm." J said matter of factly.

"But isn't this his arm here?" I said pointing to the wooden stick protruding from his body in the place one might expect an arm to be.

"Yes" she said and busied herself with something completely different seemingly to avoid any further questioning from me.

Now, is it just me...or are you seeing what I'm seeing ?

I mean he is after all a snowman, and my J well she's a smart cookie...everyday her drawings seem to get more and more accurate.

Sure "it" is not in it's usual place...but I gotta wonder

Did my sweet little princess give that snowman genitalia ?

  4. Well technically, we could call it a "third arm"...

    Not the right answer?

  6. Maybe it's the beginning of a J for her name and she ran out of cotton.

  7. This SO reminds me of the email I got where the kindegarten child drew a pair of scissors. These scissors looked EXACTLY like a male member and "two boys". Funny stuff!

PS: Your comment on my post sums up why I love you so stinking MUCH!
A well placed "F bomb" is so glorious....at times! :)

  9. I love it! I can always make out genitals in my kids artwork. Maybe we should get our heads out of the gutter!

  11. I do some painting. I recently painted a blues singer with a microphone. The microphone looked suspiciously like something else so I threw the piece away. Unfortunately, it was on an old door and I had painted a bunch of other stuff. But every single time I looked at it that's the only thing I could see. I'm 39 years old and I didn't paint a phallic microphone on purpose. I doubt your 4 year old was attempting to do anything like that either. Sometimes artistic endeavors just come out looking a little odd. Does this make you feel better? If not, go with Lollie's suggestion.

  13. At least she didn't tell her teacher what it was. Not that my daughter did anything like that, of course.
